Weiss bio pic

My work addresses the fleeting effects of atmospheric conditions and natural elements on the land and on water. The exchange between terrain, climate, temperature is constant yet often times transforming by the moment.

By printing my carved woodblocks, carborundum plates and salvaged wood boards, I am able to both excavate and conceal visual information. Each pass through the press yields calculated and also unexpected visual elements.

Weiss has exhibited in the numerous galleries and universities including the International Print Center (NYC), Shenzhen University (China), Whistler Museum of Art (PA), Minnesota National Print Biennial, Museum of the Living Artist (CA), Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CT), Monster Truck Gallery (Ireland).

Her work is included in both private and public collections including the Mattatuck Museum, Fidelity Corporate Collection, Harvard Medical International, Dempsey, Myers + Co., Clark University, Ritz Carlton. Weiss’ work is included in regional and national publications. She is a juried member of Boston Printmakers and Silvermine Guild of Artists. Weiss maintains a studio in Stratford, CT. www.deborahweiss.com
